Flippers n Fins
The shop in Cranleigh has been quietly evolving this winter, with more and more cool kit instore. This really is much more than just a dive centre. There’s not just the camera dept from fishinfocus, but also freediving, snorkeling, open water swimming, triathlon and kids’ water toys.
To reflect this, there’s a new name above the door. But don’t worry, you will still get the same great service from an experienced team that genuinely love what they do. There are also regular social nights, open to everyone. Why not come along on Thurs 20th March to see everything for yourself. Goodbye Oxygene Surrey. Hello Flippers n Fins!
For the last few months I have been slowly building up the range of cameras and accessories on offer in store. As an independent retailer, I have been able to choose those gadgets I really believe in. I have hand picked each and every camera and accessory to bring together a range that reflects the best in its category. This is photography equipment you can trust.
No matter if you are looking for a splash proof camera to snorkel with right through to SLR support and GoPro goodies, pop down to Cranleigh. Good photography is not about having the most expensive kit and I am happy to chat to about what you want to achieve.
Coming soon – full range of cameras and accessories available to purchase online.
It’s very nearly showtime! The London International Dive Show (LIDS 2014) is always a hive of activity, but this year there is even more reason to head to Excel this February. I will be on stand OU620 for both events!
LIDS kicks off 15 & 16th Feb, only weeks before what I hope is going to be a bumper UK dive season. It is always a bustling event, but of course for me, the place to be is the photo zone. The leading lights of UK underwater photography will be there, with talks for all, including Scuba Travel’s in house photo pro Duxy. I am looking forward to checking out all the latest kit developments, accessories and of course new cameras. I won’t miss my chance to vote in this year ever popular photo competition – make sure you vote too!
The Active Travel show runs 13-16th Feb and offers 4 shows for 1 ticket! And there is a whole zone dedicated to adventure photography… which includes us divers! It’s easy to forget just how versatile today’s cameras and accessories really are and I will be looking to pick up some tips from other photographers that I can use underwater as well as on the surface.
If that special someone in your life is a budding underwater photographer, then why not get them one of our new course vouchers? These make an ideal Christmas or birthday gift for anyone that wants to get more out of underwater photography!
fishinfocus course vouchers are available in any denomination and you can chose from one of the three designs – there’s a clown fish, manta and shark design to pick from.
Our vouchers can then be redeemed against any of our courses during 2014. It’s that simple.

For the first time in quite a while, I will not be selling cameras at the NEC dive show. But I just could not stay at home and miss all the fun!
I will be at the NEC dive show on both Saturday and Sunday. Come along to the Scuba Travel stand 918-920 to find me! Alongside Scuba Travel’s photo pro Duxy, I will be on hand to chat to anyone interested in underwater photography, especially UK courses.
I am also looking forward to attending some of the event’s photo talks. The line up on the centre stage is filled with some of underwater photography’s most respected names.
For all new bookings made between now and 10th November, I will be offering a huge £50 discount on private 1:1 courses. Enjoy a day of underwater photography for only £175!
Increasingly people are discovering the benefits of a private underwater photography course. Some people just want a more personalised experience and the chance to take things at their own pace. Others have specific issues that they want to iron out. From finding your way around a new camera right through to working with strobes, lens selection or even editing, a private 1:1 course is a sure fire way to get more bang from your buck. And to see rapid results quickly.
Why not request a private course for any of the upcoming dates:
Saturday 2nd Nov
Saturday 14th Dec
Sunday 15th Dec
2014 DATES COMING SOON
I am thrilled to have joined the team at Oxygene Surrey, a dive centre based in Cranleigh just outside Guildford. I have been teaching photo courses at Oxygene Surrey for the past few years, but now I will also be instore to help with… well… just about anything camera related!
You can find me in the shop every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as well as most Saturdays. So why not pop by for a coffee. Cannot make to the dive centre? Just give me a call!
- fishinfocus courses
I am proud to teach Level 1 and Level 2 courses at Oxygene Surrey. Oxygene Surrey has classroom facilities on site, as well as regular access to the fantastic pool facilities at Surrey Sports Park. By combining both a classroom and pool session, you really get to practice, practice and practice with your camera. Getting to know your camera is the single thing you can do to improve your photos underwater.
- Camera kit & advice
However, there comes a time when most of us want or need to add some extra functionality. So for when you do want any kit, give me a call. Over the next few months, we will be introducing more and more camera goodies – from total novices with a camera underwater to experienced shooters, let me help you find the ideal kit. There are so many options out there, but I can save you money and time in choosing the equipment that suits you.
We already stock GoPros, including the brand, spanking new Hero3+ and other Hero3 models. But it’s the massive range of accessories that make GoPro video cameras just so flexible. We have lots of great accessories, mounts and add ons for your GoPro – capture all the action! I am also a huge fan of Nauticam, who offers an extensive range of high end camera housings for compact and SLR cameras. These are the housings I trust to keep my cameras safe underwater. The superb engineering and ease of use just make Nauticam all the more appealing. There’s more! Talk to me about strobes, lights and arms too for all budgets.
